Installation For New Honeycomb Lifting Systems

More Systems with
Fabric-Covered Valance

In Hunter Douglas honeycomb shades, three of our most popular lifting systems — UltraGlide®, LiteRise® and EasyRise™ — now share a common headrail and the consistent look of a fabric-covered valance. This ensures a uniform appearance even when more than one system is used in the same room. The fabric-covered valance provides superior color coordination and a soft look at the top of the shade.

In the picture at right, each Duette honeycomb shade  has a different operating system, from left to right, Ultraglide®, LiteRise® and EasyRise®.  In the past, each of these systems had its own unique headrail.

Since these lifting systems now use a common headrail, they are also installed with the same metal bracket. The metal installation bracket was designed to provide strong holding power with sufficient holding capacity for new, heavier Architella® fabrics. There are two bracket sizes. One for shades with a 3/8" honeycomb and a larger bracket that is used for 3/4" and 1 1/4" pleat sizes.  Installation Brackets For Hunter Douglas Honeycomg Shades

Due to this more aggressive holding power, you may find it more difficult than expected to engage the headrail into the bracket. These steps will help ease installation.

First, make sure brackets are aligned with each other and securely installed. If the brackets that are held too loosely or not in alignment, it will be much more difficult to engage the headrail. For uneven inside mount surface textures, the shims included with the spacer blocks may be used to align the brackets.

Follow the installation process given in the instructions being careful to fit the front of the bracket into front groove of the headrail first. Then rotate the back of the rail up into the bracket as shown in this illustration from the EasyRise Installation, Operation & Care Guide.

Do not try to install by pushing the rail straight backwards into the bracket. It will be much more difficult and it may keep the bracket from fully holding the shade in place. While these instructions use the phrase "gently roll", you may not consider it to be so gentle. The smaller bracket takes a bit more effort than the larger bracket. Using a flathead screwdriver to pry the back side of the bracket can help to fit the rail in place.
