Make The Switch
To Silhouette!

The switch for switch-controlled motorized Silhouette shadings has changed recently to a better looking and more functional multi-speed switch.  In most cases, the pre-set slow speed is still a little too fast for adjusting the vane closure.  Here's how to operate shades with this switch and the way to tweak it to just the right speed.  This is a process that should be part of every installation of switch controlled Silhouette shadings.

First Test Operation
Following the installation instructions, plug the power supply into a 110-volt outlet when you are ready to test operation. The wall switch operates at two speeds, slow and fast, in either direction. The speeds are preset, but the slow speed will need to be adjusted.

Press and release the DOWN button to lower the shading. If the shading begins to lower, allow it to continue until it stops automatically.  If the shading raises, rather than lowers, reverse the wires coming from the shading to the switch.  Do not reverse the wires between the power supply and the switch. Permanent damage could result.

Switch Functions
The shading switches from slow to fast speed automatically when you hold the UP or DOWN button for 2 to 3 seconds, then release. The shading will continue to move until stopped or until it reaches the fully raised or fully lowered position.

To raise the shading, hold the UP button for 2 to 3 seconds to engage the fast speed, then release.

To lower the shading, hold the DOWN button for 2 to 3 seconds to engage the fast speed, then release.

Press the STOP button (or any button) to stop the shading at any point. The shading will stop automatically when it is fully raised or lowered.

Slow speed allows precise control of the shading position. When operating in slow speed, the shading will stop moving as soon as the button is released. Press the UP or DOWN button for less than 2 seconds, then release. Unlike shadings using the PowerRise motor, the vanes will be opened on this system when fully lowered. Use the slow speed to toggle between the buttons,  tilting the vanes to the desired position.

Adjusting The Slow Speed

The slow speed rate is preset, but usually needs to be adjusted. Start by raising or lowering the shading to its halfway point.  Then, to enter programming mode: Press and hold the STOP button, first and then simultaneously press the UP and DOWN buttons while still holding STOP button.

The shading will jog after about five seconds. When it does, release the buttons. The shading will begin to continuously cycle up and down at slow speed.

To set the new speed, tap the DOWN button to progressively decrease the slow speed.  Tap the UP button to progressively increase the slow speed.  Most likely you will want to slow it down from the preset speed.

The programming mode will time-out and exit without making any changes if a new speed is not set within  approximately 30 seconds. Any setting adjustment will not be saved if the programming mode times out. To  complete the programming, once satisfied with the speed, press and hold the STOP button for two to three seconds, until the shade jogs again. The new slow speed rate is set and stored, and the shading returns to normal operation.

It is possible to set the slow speed too low. If the shading will not raise or lower in the slow speed, enter programming mode again and tap the UP button to increase the speed until the shading operates correctly.
