| Now it's easier than
ever to change the channel on Duette with PowerRise (also
applies to Brilliance™ Pleated Shades with PowerRise™).
No more need to take the motor assembly apart, no more
cutting a solder line on the circuit card and, best of all
it's no longer a permanent change — you can switch it
back if necessary. The only tool you'll need is a
small screwdriver or, as I've used for the purpose of this
article, a bent paperclip. |
NOTE:
This tip applies to PowerRise shades made by Designer
Blinds AFTER June 2003. |
Access
From The Top Of The Shade
You can get to the channel switches very easily. Remove the
shade from the window and disconnect the power supply (battery
wand, satellite battery pack or AC converter). You will see
two little switches directly behind the receiver eye (or on the
end of the motor housing closest to the center of the shade for
units ordered with a Satellite Eye). Here's what it
looks like with the motor on the right side of the shade. You may
have to carefully move the wires attached to the card to see
The red arrow points to the switches:
Note the
position of the switches, which is easier to see in the close-up
picture below. When a shade is set to channel one it will
look like this. The red arrow added to this photograph shows
the switch you will move to convert the shade to channel
two. Since there is no red arrow on the circuit card, the
upside down "1" in the lower right of this picture will
tell you that this is the correct side and the switch to change.
The other switch should NOT be moved:
 Changing
To Channel Two
The
instructions say to use a small electronics screwdriver to move
the switch, and that will work fine but I prefer to use a simpler
tool —a bent paper clip. Move the switch on the right
looking from the front of the shade back to a position in which it
is in alignment with the other switch as shown in the pictures
below. The shade is now set to channel two. Place the
shade back into the window, replace the power supply, set the
remote control to channel two and test the operation.
More
Changes:
If you've ever changed a channel on PowerRise shades the old way,
I know you'll agree that this is the best thing to happen to
motorized shades since, well, PowerRise. But they didn't
stop there! A few other things have changed for PowerRise as
well.

Removal From Brackets |
|
|
Another
great improvement is in the way the shade is removed from
the installation brackets. For shades made before
June of 2003, it was necessary to lift the door and insert
a screwdriver into a slot that could be quite difficult to
see. Now it's easier. All you have to do is
raise the shade, insert a flat blade screwdriver between
the bracket and the shade from below at the center of the
bracket. Push up with the screwdriver to release the
shade from the locking tab. |

A
Great Way For Palladian Windows: End-Mounts
Up To
65 Inches Wide!
Because of the bracket change, installation brackets no
longer have to be set in beyond four inches. This allows
the use of extension brackets to allow END-MOUNT
installation of PowerRise shades up to 65 inches
wide.
End-mounts on standard
cordlock operating system are restricted to much smaller
sizes and were previously unavailable for shades wit
PowerRise. This makes PowerRise shades an excellent
choice for Palladian windows.

Easier
And More Reliable Than Ever!
In addition to these changes, the electronics of the new
PowerRise motor increase its reliability. PowerRise
Shades are easier and more reliable than ever. |
